Our story

Zonder Ei Bakkerij started as an online store in 2022 with a passion for creating delicious vegan treats. In November 2023 Zonder Ei Bakkerij opened a physical bakery on the Brabantdam in Gent, where Eliah now sells a daily selection of breads and pastries.

We have a philosophy of what we call a ‘community bakery’. Our commitment is to provide pastries and baked goods with the least environmental impact possible and to contribute to the community. We combat food waste by having a reduced menu, a ‘no waste’ box featuring yesterdays surplus, and working with organisations such as Let’s Save Food and Too Good To Go. Additionally, we foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone and are pleased to support charities such as Cavaria and the Dierenasiel Gent.

Zonder Ei Bakkerij is currently solely run by Eliah, who does all the baking and front-of-house. Occasionally his wife Gwennan will help at events, with social media, community projects, or with Dutch admin. We look forward to seeing you in the bakery!

Our ingredients

Zonder Ei Bakkerij uses exclusively high quality plant-based products. We do not use animal products and are therefore naturally fully lactose- and egg-free. Our gluten-free range is extensive, however we recommend ordering gluten-free in advance as we do not always have everything available in store.

We source our products as locally as possible and work with companies such as Lets Save Food and Foodello to help use food that would otherwise go to waste.

We believe in tackling food waste and giving to the community.

Our ‘adopt don’t shop’ board

Have you seen our ‘adopt don’t shop’ board in the bakery? On this board we showcase dogs and cats that are currently struggling to find a permanent home. We hope you can come and be inspired to give one of these ‘difficult to adopt’ animals a chance at a new life.
